Identify your clay colors.

Shape a small ball using the peach clay to make Santa's head.

Tip: Stretch and knead the clay to remove wrinkles and unevenness

Shape a disc shape using a small piece of the white clay to make the back of Santa's hair. Place it on the back of Santa's head.

Shape two small crescents using the peach clay to make the ears. Attach them to the sides of the head.

Wait 5-10 minutes for the head to dry more before the next step, so you do not misshape the head.

Shape a cone using the red clay to make Santa's hat. Use a piece smaller than the head.

Indent the base of the cone to match the curve of the head.

Place the hat on the top of the head.

Stretch the tip of the hat and then gently curve the tip down toward the right side. Do not fold it all the way yet because you will add the white band first.

Shape a long flat string using the white clay. Cut the ends off. Wrap it around the base of the hat.

Fold the top of the hat down more. Then, shape a small ball using the white clay and place it on the tip of the hat as a pompom.

Shape two small balls using the black clay to make the eyes. Shape a small ball using the red clay to make the nose. Place it on the center of the face.

Shape a ball using the white clay to make Santa's beard. Place it right under the nose, touching the nose. Shape 4 more smaller balls using the white clay for the sides of the beard. Place them on the sides of the beard in the middle, curving upward toward the ear.

Shape 4 more small balls using the white clay, the same size as the previous 4 balls. Place them underneath the beard.

Flatten the beard slightly to blend the balls into each other, especially at the bottom.

Shape a cylinder with a tapered top using the red clay to make Santa's body.
Pro tip: Note here that it’s better to make the cylinder a bit taller than you’d like because when you add the head, the body will get compressed from the weight.

Make a dent on the bottom of the cylinder to add stability when Santa is standing. Place the head on top of the cylinder.

Shape a flat strip using the white clay. Cut the ends off. Wrap it around the bottom of Santa's body.

Shape a thin string using the black clay. Wrap it around Santa's waist.

Shape a short string using the yellow clay. Cut the ends off and make a loop for the belt buckle and place in the middle of the black string..

Shape 2 small rounded cones using the red clay to make the sleeves. Then, shape 2 flat circles using the white clay. Cover the bottom flat side of each cone with the white circles.

Shape 2 flat strips using the white clay. Cut the ends off. Wrap them around the bigger side of the sleeves.

Shape two small ovals using the peach clay to make the hands. Attach them to the sleeves.

Attach the sleeves to the sides of Santa. Curve one sleeve up and one sleeve down to make Santa wave. You can bend Santa to one side to add a tilt.

Poke the toothpick tool all the way through the hat of santa from the front. Wiggle the toothpick in a circular motion to make the hole larger so that the string can easily slip through. Insert the stem of the string through the hole and lock both ends together

Set aside and allow the clay to dry completely (about 2 days) before hanging to display
